Speex is an Open Source/Free Software patent-free audio compression format designed for speech. The Speex Project aims to lower the barrier of entry for voice applications by providing a free alternative to expensive proprietary speech codecs. Moreover, Speex is well-adapted to Internet applications and provides useful features that are not present in most other codecs. Finally, Speex is part of the GNU Project and is available under the revised BSD license.

Speex is based on CELP and is designed to compress voice at bitrates ranging from 2 to 44 kbps. Some of Speex's features include:

• Narrowband (8 kHz), wideband (16 kHz), and ultra-wideband (32 kHz) compression in the same bitstream
• Intensity stereo encoding
• Packet loss concealment
• Variable bitrate operation (VBR)

Power bars for passes were introduced, and dribbling reduced in order to attain a higher challenge level. The power bar can also be customised to suit the gamer's preference. The game also includes club emblems for many more important European clubs as well as for major Dutch clubs such as PSV Eindhoven, Ajax Amsterdam and Feyenoord although there is still no official Dutch league. A card reward system licensed from Panini was also introduced where, after winning a particular competition, a star player card is unlocked. There is also a bonus game with the nations that had automatically qualified for the 2002 World Cup (France, Japan and South Korea), in which the player tries to improve the FIFA ranking of their chosen team by participating in international friendlies.

Scream Tracker

Scream Tracker is a versatile multi-track digital sequencer created by Psi (Sami Tammilehto) of Finland's Future Crew (FC), legendary in the PC demoscene. It was coded in C and assembly language. The first popular version of Scream Tracker, version 2.2, was published in 1990. Versions prior to 3.0 created STM files, later ones used S3M. The last version of Scream Tracker was 3.21 released in 1994. It was the precursor of the PC tracking scene and its interface inspired newer trackers like Impulse Tracker.
