When you use your browser to view facebook webpage and download games, you may get an error as below:
DOMException.SYNTAX_ERR (12)
An invalid string value is specified.
This error may occur after you update windows system or install any new software in your computer. When it occurs, you will not be able to download games from facebook. The browser is having activex problem or code error and needs to be fixed.
Method 1: Enable compatibility view settings in Internet Explorer.

Method 2: Reset intetnet explorer
- 1. Click the Internet Explorer Tools menu, or press Alt-T on your keyboard.
- 2. Select Internet Options.
- 3. On the Advanced tab, click Reset.
- 4. Select the “Delete personal settings” checkbox.
- 5. Click Reset.
- 6. If you still don’t see the Toolbar, try the steps above again to re-enable add-ons and the Toolbar.
Method 3: Fix registry errors with a registry cleaner
- download a registry cleaner
- scan the computer and clean the errors
- It will find the activeX and code errors in internet explorer and fix the errors automatically.
- You will be able to download from Facebook again.
