For many computer users, svchost.exe is a process that may usually cause problem and leave users no choice but to reinstall system to solve the problem. It is so commonly used by other programs that you can’t identify the cause of the error easily. However, to reinstall whole system in the first place is not a wise choice. The cause of this symptom is actually windows update that runs backstage. Automatic windows update based on svchost.exe will always search for new updates and try to download by itself. To fix it, just go to control panel, open windows update setting and set windows update to run manually. You will find CPU using rate down at once after turning off window update.
Another symptom is application errors that appear at login screen or terminate any program in use. You will probably see an error similar as below:

The cause of this error is probably windows media player and the solution is quite easy as well. Go to control panel, in administrative tools, choose services. You will open a list with all services running in computer at the moment. And your job is to find Windows Driver Foundation – User-mode Driver Framework service, right click and disable this service. This should do the trick and stop the error from appearing at the login screen.
Another general solution for all svchost.exe error is to go to C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution, delete everything in this folder. Or rename this folder name to another name.
