Solution to “Bootmgr is missing” Error

Bootmgr error message offen occurs when you startup computer. This message usually indicates that the boot sector is damaged or missing. The boot sector is a region of your hard disk that contains information that is used to load your operating system. If a boot failure is detected when your PC is starting, you may receive this error message.

 

Bootmgr is missing. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart.

 

To fix this error, you have to replace the corrupted boot sector with a working one.

 

Method 1: Restore your system to previous working state

  1. Turn on the computer. Hit the “F8″ key until a screen named “Windows Advance Options Menu” displays.
  2. Arrow down to “Last Known Good Configuration.” Press the “Enter” key. Select “Windows XP” and hit “Enter.” The computer will be restored to the last good restore point.
  3. Click the Windows “Start” button. Select “Programs,” “Accessories,” and “System Tools.” Choose “System Restore.” Choose “Restore Computer to an Earlier Time.” Click “Next.”
  4. Choose a restore point. Follow the prompts to restart the computer. If you still get an error, return to the “System Restore” tool and choose an earlier restore date.

 

Method 2: Use windows repair CD to replace corrupted file.

  1. Insert the Windows installation disc into the disc drive, and then start the computer.
  2. Press a key when the message indicating “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD “. appears.
  3. Select a language, a time and currency, and a keyboard or input method, and then click Next.
  4. Click Repair your computer.
  5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, choose the drive of your Windows installation and clickNext.
  6. At the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Repair your computer.
  7. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
  8. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Startup Repair.

 

Method 3: download a registry cleaner to fix the issue.

The bootmgr problem may be caused by registry error which blocks the boot sector from beling recognized and the error is then generated. To fix the issue, you will have to clean your registry errors and make the boot sector readable again. Try it and you will find it most effective in solving this matter for you.
