Bold font error is a problem in Internet explorer 9. The error will turn all texts on the webpages into bold font. It violates our common reading habits, and makes the page look strange and ugly. However, this error does not happen in IE8, which turns obvious that the cause is within IE9 itself.
To solve this issue, we have several options.
First, uninstall IE 9 and stick to IE8.
This seems a choice not so smart, but it is very quick and direct to the problem. Investigation has revealed that IE 8 is not affected by this problem, thus using IE 8 will be good solution temperarily before Microsoft releases any service pack to tackle the issue.
To uninstall IE 9,
- Click the Start button , type Programs and Features in the search box, and then click View installed updates in the left pane.
- Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.
- Right-click Windows Internet Explorer 9, click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.
- Restart computer to apply the change
Second, reset IE9 to clear add-ons and incorrect settings
If IE 9 used to work well, and suddenly displays the bold font error, then it is very possible that it is corrupted. It may either be an damaged add-on, or automatic change of setting by virus or malware. In such case, reset IE 9 will quickly solve the problem:
- Open Internet Explorer
- Click the Tools button , and then click Internet options.
- Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
- Select the Delete personal settings check box if you would also like to remove browsing history, search providers, Accelerators, home pages, Tracking Protection, and ActiveX Filtering data.
- In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
- When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, click Close, and then click OK.
- Close Internet Explorer.
Third, install a registry cleaner to wipe out registry errors
Virus and malware can corrupt the registry and cause numerous problems in your computer, including the IE bold font errors. It is urgent to have a registry cleaner to detect and clean these registry issues for you. Any delay will lead to unimaginable more serious issues. Remember, 90% of the computer problems are caused by registry issues. So it is always recommended that you install a registry cleaner to consistantly protect your system.
