Three Simple Steps to Fix Error 1721

 

Error 1721 usually occurs when computer users are trying to uninstall a programme using Add or Remove Programmes function in windows Control Panel. The error is displayed as below:

 

“Error 1721. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personal or package vendor.”

 

Cause of the error:

Accoring to the error message, the windows installer package, which is responsible for completing the installation, is having a problem. It may either be a simple setting problem, or a serious registry issue. To fix the issue, it is necessary to make the windows installer function again.

 

Follow below three simple steps to fix windows installer, try to reinstall the programme after each step:

Step one: Turn on the window installer service

1.     Open Control Panel |administrative tools | service.
2.       In the Services (Local) list, right-click Windows Installer, and then click Properties.
3.       If the Startup type drop-down list is set to a value of Disable, select the Manual option from the Startup type drop-down list, and then click OK.
4.       Click the File menu, and then click Exit.

Step Two: unregister and re-register windows installer package

1.       Click the Start, Run, type CMD and press Enter
2.       In the Command Prompt window, type MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER, and then click Enter. Even if you do this correctly, it may look like nothing occurs, or you may briefly see an hourglass. After you run this command, the operation is completed.
3.       Type MSIEXEC /REGSERVER, and then click Enter. Even if you do this correctly, it may look like nothing occurs, or you may briefly see an hourglass. After you run this command, the operation is completed.

Step Three: Scan and fix registry errors

Registry errors can cause windows installer to malfunction or even corrupted. When the windows installer package is installed, the system creates registry entrys to decide how it works. If these registry entrys are corrupted, windows installer will not be able to function correctly. To fix error 1721, you will need to install a registry optimizer. It will fix the error and get the windows installer function again.
