When computer users try to install Windows 7 on a formatted computer, they may receive this error message after attempting to install one of the drivers during the setup process:
“Windows is unable to install to the selected location. Error: 0×80300001″
Error 0×80300001 usually occurs when users are trying to do a clean installation of Windows 7 but the installation process cannot find the media drive. This error typically appears when the installation requires users to exchange disks in order to install required drivers on the system and the operating system disks are not placed back in the drive before proceeding with the install.
To stop this error, users have to put the operating system disk back in the drive, and go on with the installation. If you have finished installing the driver CD or DVD, you may have to put the Windows 7 install media DVD into the CDrom to continue installing.
If you have put the Media DVD in the DVDrom and still get this error, it may be a registry error. Registry controls how the system works including the DVD writing and copying. Error 0×80300001 may be caused by corrupted registry which is related to DVD and CD reading. In such case you may learn how to fix 0×80300001 with a registry repairing tool.
