  • Next, click File and then click Exit to close the registry editor.

  2. In the left pane, find and double-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, and then click COMPONENTS.
  3. Right-click COMPONENTS, and then click Export. By default, this file is saved to your desktop, but you can choose any folder.
  4. In the File Name text box, type COMPONENTS. You have now created a back up copy of the registry values you’re going to be removing.
  5. In the right pane, search for PendingXmlIdentifier, right-click it, and then click Delete. PendingXmlIdentifier might not be listed.
  6. In the right pane, search for NextQueueEntryIndex, right-click it, and then click Delete. NextQueueEntryIndex might not be listed.
  7. In the right pane, search for AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving, right-click it, and then click Delete. AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving might not be listed.
  8. Restart your computer and then run Windows Update again.

 

Method 2:  Rename the Windows Update Software distribution folder

 

1. Stop the Windows Update service (make sure you are logged on as an Administrator)

Start button || Control Panel ||System and Maintenance ||Administrative Tools
Double-click Services 
(Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click Stop.

2. Click Start, type %windir% in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

Locate and rename the SoftwareDistribution folder.  You can rename it to softwareDistribution.old.

 

Method 3: Download a registry cleaner to fix the registry problem.

You may receive this error message if the following issues are true:

  • The office suite you originally installed has contained Data1.msi on the root of the CD. This is the default file name used for the Office CD1 Windows Installer package.
  • You try to run the Office SR-1 Setup by using a Select CD.

 

Solution:

Actually the installation of office 2000 SR-1 does not need data1.msi.  There are a series of .msi and Setup files on the root, each one named according to the edition of Office to be installed. For example, if you want to install the Premium edition from the Select CD, you run Setupprm.exe, which uses Data1prm.msi.

 

If you are using the Select SR-1 CD to update your existing installation of Office, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type Regedit and click OK.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Find.
  4. In the Find what box, type Data1.msi and then click Find Next.
  5. If the search result selects a string value called PackageName, continue with these steps. Otherwise, repeat steps 3-4.
  6. Double-click the PackageName string value.
  7. In the Value data box, type the name of the .msi package that you are using on the Office 2000 SR-1 Select CD, and then click OK. For example, if you are trying to install the Premium edition, typeData1prm.msi.
  8. The PackageName string value is part of the SourceList key. Select the Media key that is a subkey of the SourceList key.
  9. Double-click the 1 string value.
  10. In the Value data box, type Selo9cd01;1 and then click OK.
  11. On the Registry menu, click Exit.
  12. Run the appropriate Setup again from the Office 2000 SR-1 Select CD.

  • wups.dll
  • wuweb.dll
  • atl.dll
  • softpub.dll
  • wintrust.dll
  • initpki.dll
  • mssip32.dll

Microsoft Security Essentials is an antivirus and Anti-malware programme developped by Microsoft to help keep your computer safe from attacks and damages from virus and malware. Fixing Windows Explorer Crashing in Windows 7

Sometimes when you are looking for files in windows explorer or trying to delete files from there, you suddenly see a little progress bar saying it’s closing Explorer, then that goes away and another one shows up saying “Restarting Windows Explorer”.

 

This may occur after you update your windows. It is typically a file disabled or missing error. File that needed for running windows explorer has been corrupted or gone, thus the operation is not supported anymore. To solve this problem, there are several possible ways:

 

Method 1: Please check whether you face the same issue while working in the safe mode.
Step 1 Safe Mode
1. Restart your computer.
2. When the computer starts you will see your computer’s hardware being listed. When you see this information start to gently tap the F8 key on your keyboard repeatedly until you are presented with the Windows 7 Advanced Boot Options screen.
3. Using the arrow keys, select the Safe Mode option you want.
4. Then press the enter key on your keyboard to boot into Windows 7 Safe Mode.
5. When Windows starts you will be at a typical logon screen. Logon to your computer and Windows 7 will enter Safe mode.
6. Do whatever tasks you require, and when you are done, reboot to go back into normal mode.

Steps 2. Clean Boot 
If the issue existed in Safe Mode perform Clean Boot troubleshooting to find the root cause of  the issue:
Clean Boot Troubleshooting: 
1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
   User Account Control permission.
   If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the 
   password, Or click Continue.
2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup items check box.
4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
5. Click OK.
6. When you are prompted, click Restart.
7. After the computer starts, check whether the problem is resolved. 
 
If the issue is resolved check which third party is causing the problem.

 

Method 2: Run your antivirus software to remove the virus and a registry cleaner to fix the errors caused by virus.

If your system is infected by virus, you will need to clean it first. Otherwise it will continue to damage the system and cause more problems. After removing the virus, continue to run a registry cleaner to fix the programme caused by virus.

 

Method 3: Use your windows CD to repair the files.

Set your boot mode to CD, and when booting computer, you will get a menu on the screen asking what you want to do with your system. Click repair the system with the CD, and the CD will restore the files for you.
