Have you ever met a situation like this: download a program for several hours, but when it comes to install, a pop up error just terminates the installation and asks you to give up. This is just annoying, especially when you are in need of that certain program to carry on your work or study. In this article, we will discuss the causes of this error and offer three ways to resolve it.

The first guess is the downloaded setup file is corrupted. It can occur either during upload or download. Another cause is windows installer error. If this is the case, on the error message, you will see some details related to windows installer. The reason you are seeing this error may be the service of installer being disabled. To solve this problem, just follow below steps:

1. Press Win and R button simultaneously on your keyboard. Or click start button and then the run box.
2. Enter “services.msc” and press Enter. Then the services configuration tool will be opened.
3. Select ‘windows installer ‘ and right click, then click ‘property’. On the startup type, change to ‘auto’, then click ‘ok’ button. Restart your computer.

If all above suggestions have been tried but the problem still exists, there may be some registry errors in the system. You will need to clean it before you install the program. 5. Click plus sign (or arrow) next to CurrentControlSet
6. Click plus sign (or arrow) next to Control
7. Click plus sign (or arrow) next to Class
8. In the left hand window pane click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} to select that key
9. In the right hand window pane select the UpperFilters registry key and press the delete key on the keyboard Confirm with an OK
10. In the right hand window pane select the LowerFilters registry key and press the delete key on the keyboard Confirm with an OK
11. Close the registry edit window.
12. Open the device manager window Tap (Window key (flag key on the keyboard) and R key on the keyboard, at once) Type in devmgmt.msc
13. Expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives and right click on the device and select uninstall.
14. After uninstalling, plese click on the system icon on the top and select scan for new hardware changes. 

NOTE: Editing registry by yourself may cause mistake and serious injure to computer system. If you are not familiar with it, you’d better get a registry cleaner to help you. It is much more safer and will not cause harm to your system.
